Our Artisan Honey is pure 100% local honey. It is made by bees who live and forage within three miles of their colony in North Chelmsford. Our honey is not the same as ‘supermarket’ honey that the majority of the UK is used to tasting. It differs in both flavour and quality. Our honey has not been forced through ultra-fine mesh filters, or blended with honey from multiple sources from thousands of miles away. It does not contain any sugar or syrup which can be fed to the bees instead of nectar from flowers. It is 100% natural honey from bees that forage in the countryside, farmland, back gardens, and verges right here in South East England. Our honey is 100% pure and nothing is added from the moment it leaves the hive to the moment it is bottled. We extract all our honey by hand straight from the comb by spinning it. Although this is a time consuming process by doing it this way, it causes the least damage to the comb, honey and most importantly the bees. We filter it through a sieve to remove any unwanted bits of wax, and the odd bee leg or two. This allows the honey to retain as much of the good ingredients like pollen as possible. These ingredients are what makes raw local honey the best type. All of the aromatic and health qualities that honey is famed for comes from these practices and management. Our honey goes from comb to bottle and then for sale in 24 hours or less. Its about the freshest you can get…unless you’re a beekeeper. We sell our honey locally to customers in Chelmsford, Maldon, Colchester, Braintree, Shenfield, and Witham both through our store online and at the door. |
